Nebraska beats Iowa 79-73

Nebraska's Brandon Richardson had a career game leading the team with 25 points, 9-10 FG, and 6-7 3-pointers.  It might be the first time all season a Husker player has taken the game into his own hands and won it.

"I was just trying to be more aggressive," Richardson said.

Nebraska gets a week off before traveling to Northwestern Feb. 2.

Reality returns to NU

No. 6th ranked Ohio State handed Nebraska 79-45 loss Saturday night,  it was the worst home defeat in Husker basketball history.  Ugh.

Big Red beat the Hoosiers 70-69

Nebraska managed to score 70 points on Wednesday night, one more than Indiana.  It's the biggest win of the season for the Huskers and could be a turning point for a team that's trying to find an identity.  Doc Sadler was jumping up and down with a group kids in celebration.  Definitely a big win for the Big Red.

Nebraska can't score enough in loss to Wisconsin

Nebraska lost to Wisconsin 50-45 in Fort Randall on Sunday.  For the Huskers, it wasn't the lack of defense, they held the Badgers to a single field goal in the games last nine minutes.  Tell me one team that does that to another and doesn't win the game.  Nebraska simply can't score points from the field when it matters.  Doc's got to find a way to get kids that know how to score.  The games do not get any easier as Indiana rolls into town Wednesday.

Nebrasketball picks up first conference win

Nebraska's mens basketball team picked up their first win in the BIG TEN Conference on Wednesday night beating Penn State 70-58.  Bo Spencer found his stroke and poured in 19 points.  The team shot 55% from the floor.

The performance was the best overall by the Huskers in conference play.  They played tough defense from start to finish and made baskets in transition. Coach Doc Sadler after the game said, "It was hard-earned, which every game's going to be for us in this league."

Nebraska travels to Madison to take on Wisconsin on Saturday.  The Badger's won the first meeting 64-40, but since have lost three straight games to Iowa, Michigan State, and Michigan.

Congratulations to the National Champion Alabama Crimson Tide

Alabama's defense shutout LSU's offense 21-0 to win the BCS National Champioship.  Congratulations to the Crimson Tide.  The Tide defense may be the best ever in college football.

Nebraska blows bowl game in poor fashion

Nebraska managed to blow the final game of the season by losing to South Carolina 30-17.  It is the second time in as many years the Huskers put forth a lackluster effort in the season ending bowl game.  The momentum shift clearly came after a 51-yard Hail Mary pass that was caught for a touchdown as time expired in the first half.  If you were shaking your head wondering WTH just happened, you weren't alone.

The game was a reminder that Nebraska's overall talent might be close to that of most Big Ten teams but not in the same league with top SEC teams.  They must secure more speed and size in the skills position if they ever expect to compete for titles.

More to come.....
