Is Bo Right??

I'm sure by now you've all heard Bo Pelini's comments concerning the fans  during Saturday's game versus Kansas.  I'm honestly surprised it took Bo this long to say something about the fans.  I have been to three games at Memorial Stadium (by no means a regular), but that place is QUIET, he is absolutely right.  I have mentioned this to Bugeater on more than one occasion, of course he disagrees.

My college football travels are not as extensive as I would like them to be, but I have been some major venues around the country.  I have been to games at Camp RandallBen Hill Griffin, and Doak Campbell as well as various bowl games throughout the state of Florida.  All venues full of enthusiastic ravenous fans much louder than those found in Memorial Stadium.  People here in NE are starting to air their "I was told to sit down by stadium security" stories on the local sports talk shows.  This is ridiculous, this blows my mind. Take notice when watching the game down in College Station, that place will be rocking.

Please don't take this the wrong way, this is not an indictment of NU fans in anyway.  Living here I see that they have the passion and intelligence that matches and exceeds that of other fan bases throughout the country.Or is it a slight to Memorial Stadium experience, the atmosphere in Lincoln on gameday is awesome, and the Tunnel Walk is spine tingling, but after that it's all down hill.  What are your thoughts Nebraska fans?

  1. I think it depends on where you are in the stadium. The people in our section our very passionate and make noise and stand up the entire game. I've heard stories of gray hairs spoiling the mood for some fans, but haven't experienced this myself and I've been going to games for 15 years, as a student and a ticket holder.

I don't disagree with Bo's take that the crowd just wasn't into it against Kansas. It was cold and not really an exciting game. The crowd knows when to make noise, when to grumble, and even boo(see Callahan OSU '07). The way the offense was playing in the second half, I'm not surprised it was quite.

Maybe Bo's call out will spark a fire under the gray hairs and get them off their asses.

Please be respectful. Thank you.
